Jan Settle

Jan Settle

As a child, Jan had her hand on every crayon, coloring book, pencil, paint, paintbrush, & any other form of artistic material that she could find. Some of her best childhood memories include attending “art group” meetings with her mother where she witnessed first-hand how creative ideas turned into beautiful works of art. After receiving a BFA degree from Virginia Commonwealth University, she worked in the field of Interior Design for many years. When the housing industry took a dip in the 90’s, she went back to school to learn computer skills & worked in the left-brained world of accounting for 26 years, using art as a mental respite.

After retiring in 2015, Jan has fully immersed herself in the art world again, painting with acrylics, watercolor, pastels & her new passion, Acrylic Paint Pouring.

She is a member of the Blue Ridge Art League of Culpeper, the MidAtlantic Pastel Society (MAPS) & the Firnew Farm Artists Circle of Madison. Her work can be seen in local galleries & in many of the exhibits held by MAPS. Jan is also a member/instructor at Gallery 3 in Sperryville, VA, a newly opened fine art gallery & instructional studio. www.gallery3va.com She is currently painting whenever possible & developing new ways to combine more traditional painting techniques with the loose, colorful & exciting world of Acrylic Paint Pouring!

You can follow her on Facebook at CastleRock Designs & Workshops & contact her at castlerockdesigns@yahoo.com.

Jan lives in Castleton, VA, located in beautiful Rappahannock County, with her husband, their beautiful Australian Shepherd & 4 wonderful cats.
